Why Blasting Comes First
Skip the prep and even the best coating will flake, bubble or peel. Media blasting removes rust, mill scale, paint and old powder, then leaves a clean, evenly-profiled surface — the microscopic “tooth” a coating needs to grip. It’s the single biggest factor in how long a finish lasts, which is why we never rush it.

Aluminum Oxide
A sharp, fast-cutting abrasive that strips rust and old coatings and lays down a strong profile — our go-to for steel and aluminum headed for powder coating.
Steel Grit & Shot
Built for tough steel. Grit cuts through heavy rust and scale for an aggressive profile; shot cleans and peens the surface — ideal for structural and industrial parts.
Glass Bead
A softer media that cleans and leaves a smooth, satin finish without heavily cutting the metal — great for softer alloys, delicate parts and deburring.

Media Blasting FAQ
Do you offer blasting on its own, or only with coating?
Both. We’re happy to blast your parts and return them ready for whatever’s next, or roll straight into powder coating them here. Just let us know which you need when you reach out.
What's the difference between sandblasting and media blasting?
They’re the same idea — propelling an abrasive to clean and profile a surface — but “media blasting” covers a range of abrasives beyond traditional sand. We use aluminum oxide, steel grit/shot and glass bead and choose the right one for your part and finish.
Will blasting damage or warp my part?
Not when the media is matched to the part. Aggressive abrasives are for tough steel; gentler glass bead is for softer alloys and delicate pieces. We select the media and pressure so it cleans without harming the metal — send a photo if you’re unsure.
Can you remove heavy rust and old coatings?
Yes. Blasting strips rust, mill scale, paint and failed coatings down to clean metal. For thick old paint or powder, we can also run parts through our burn-off oven first, then blast for a perfect surface.
Do you offer pickup or delivery?
We handle shipping and delivery across a roughly two-hour radius of Le Roy — including Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Corning — with shipping hours of 8:30am–4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
